JIMEOIN WORK IN PROGRESS

A preview night of comedy with a difference - 2 shows for the price of one!

Portstewart's own Jimeoin performs a special preview hour before he heads to the Edinburgh Fringe.

With support from special guest Micky Bartlett who is also performing his fringe preview. Micky is from Lurgan and you may know him alongside Jimeoin as another regular panelist on the BBC's 'Monumental', or caught him on the 'Blame Game' or supporting Tommy Tiernan or even Patrick Kielty at the Odyssey Arena.

This is not a touring show, this is a special work in progress preview type show - so come expecting nerves, a bit of chaos and a lot of laughs ... but don't come expecting a slick, finished comedy show on the cheap. This is strictly a work in progress.

Monday 31st July, 7.30pm, £19.50

Tickets: £19.50
PERFORMANCES: SATURDAY 19TH AUGUST, 8PM TICKETS: £12/£10

Belvoir Players proudly presents " Stop it Nurse" a hilarious Ulster comedy by Sam Cree.

Set in a Belfast hospital during the 60"s the Ward Sister rules the roost. We follow the fortunes and misfortunes of the patients in the male surgical ward. When Sammy, a Linfield supporter is admitted followed by Felix who supports Glentoran we can be sure mayhem follows.

Add to the mix a giddy nurse, a domineering wife, a femme fatale and an all-in wrestler then we have all the ingredients for a typical evening of pure Cree manic magic!

New Horizon

Coleraine, August 05 to August 11

New Horizon is the largest Christian event in Northern Ireland, attracting 5,000 people a day. Running at the Ulster University in Coleraine since 1989, New Horizon is more than a conference - it is a time of refreshment, challenge, inspiration and encouragement for all the family with vibrant worship, evening celebrations, morning bible teaching, topical seminars and high-energy youth and children’s programmes. The event normally starts on the first Saturday in August and runs until the following Friday. It is a non-residential event - so apart from registration for the children/youth programme you can just turn up.

Each year we build a ‘tented village’ on the edge of the university campus with a large tent that seats 3,500 people.

Lassie Summer Series Shipwrecks and stories of the Seas

Portrush, August 06 and August 28th

Portrush Harbourmaster and respected local historian Robert Anderson is your guide on these three hour cruises, recalling stories of shipwrecks, many almost totally forgotten, along this part of the famous Causeway Coast. Three distinct trips are available:-

6th August 2017

‘Shipwrecks West’ - This exciting trip to the West of Portrush and to the notorious Barmouth area at the mouth of Ulster’s longest River, The Bann, reveals a catalogue of little known shipwrecks on the Co Londonderry coast. Stories of poor navigation, storms and just pure bad luck are related as we actually sail over the remains of one unfortunate vessel still visible on the Causeway Lass echo sounder. Should sea conditions permit the vessel will sail into the estuary of the River Bann which has the distinction of being a ship’s graveyard.

Leaves Portrush Harbour 18.00 - 21.00.

28th August 2017

‘Shipwrecks East’ - Robert will relate the details of many of the shipwrecks lost between Portrush and the Giant’s Causeway, from the well known wrecks from Armada times as well as some forgotten disasters around Ramore Head and the Skerries. Tales from wartime encounters close to our coast in the two World Wars also feature in this fascinating and enlightening tour.

Leaves Portrush Harbour 18.00 - 21.00

Bring warm clothing and suitable footwear, camera/binoculars.

The Hardchargers

We proudly present one of favourite bands playing “Dirty Blues from Belfast” from The Hardchargers.
…Formed in late 2009, the band’s intense live sets live up to their name, comprised mostly of raunchy, exciting, provocative and honest original songs, ranging from down-home washboard/ resonator/double bass workouts, to a heady blend of twangy electric blues and roadhouse style rock, complimented by arrangements of cuts by trailblazers such as Son House and Howlin’ Wolf.
The band has performed at a stellar list of music and arts festivals all over the island of Ireland, opened for US artists Bob Log III and Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, shared equal billing with Californian Band, The Old Tire Swingers and were amongst a small number of artists chosen to take part in the successful “Backin’ Belfast” initiative, A recent Belfast gig prompted the legendary Terri Hooley to describe the band as “My kind of fecking band”.
