Ali Baba And the Naughty Thieves

Ali Baba's in a fix! He wants to marry his neighbour and girlfriend, the quick-witted Morgianna. However, as a brainless woodcutter with no money, a wedding seems altogether out of the question until he stumbles upon a magiccave containing riches beyond his wildest dreams.

Unfortunately, all the treasure belongs to some rather "naughtythieves" who plan to reclaim it!

From Riverbank Productions, the company who brought you "Goldilocks and the Grumpy Bears" and "Red Riding Hood And the Silly Wolf", this show contains all the ingredients for a traditional panto: A comical hero; his beautiful and clever fiancée; a panto dame (Morgianna's mum), Kamaria the villain and her fellow naughty thieves; puppets; popular hits from 2017 with an Ali Baba twist, colourful costumes and lots of audience participation.

At the Riverside we believe it is never too early to get creative and with your babies and toddlers and are piloting new sessions this Autumn that aim to encourage little imaginations to flourish whilst helping prepare your child for the formal learning experiences nursery and school will provide. Best of all, our early years classes require parent and child participation, so you get to join in and share the magical experience too.

The showcase will highlight different dance styles, including hip hop, contemporary jazz, musical theatre and acrobatics. VLDD drama class will showcase some LAMDA acting exam pieces and there will also be some guest singers.

The annual showcase is a chance for all of the VLDD studio performers to showcase their abilities. The evening will be sure to leave you begging for more and excited for the Christmas season.

In October, exactly 500 years ago, Martin Luther, an obscure Augustinian monk, nailed a document to a church doorin Wittenberg, Germany and changed the world forever.

This remarkable anniversary is commemorated with a production of ‘LUTHER’ by John Osborne, an award winning play presented by Centre Stage Theatre Company. Osborne is one of the most significant and influential playwrights of 20th century theatre, best known for his ground-breaking ‘Look Back in Anger’.

‘Luther’ gives a powerful portrait of the monk as he agonizes with his doubts and disillusions and subsequently the consequences of his world-shattering cry for Church reform.

Silences, led by singer and songwriter Conchur White (with the line-up completed by Christopher Harbinson, Breándan White, Jonathan Downing and Michael Keyes) – have received critical acclaim for their three EPs ‘Nevernames’, ’Sister Snow’ and ‘Luna’. The Irish based act have received considerable support from the likes of Annie Mac, Huw Stephens, Phil Taggart (BBC Radio 1) as well as Clash, Other Voices, XFM, Amazing Radio, RTE, Tom Robinson (BBC 6 Music) and Gary Lightbody (Snow Patrol).

Silences’ music has been streamed over five million times on Spotify and they have become one of the most talked about acts from Northern Ireland.

Highlights in the last year have included much talked about performances at BBC Introducing (Latitude), Reeperbahn, The Great Escape and Electric Picnic as well as their first UK and Irish tours. This tour included a show in O2 Shepherd’s Bush. In addition Silences were asked to take part in the British Council’s “UK Music On The Go’ advertising campaign. This initiative promoted Silences’ music and image across four major cities in China alongside acts like ‘Young Fathers’ and ‘Prides’. At the conclusion of the campaign Silences’ were voted as the most popular act. .

Working closely with producers Declan Legge (SOAK/Ciaran Lavery) Silences have managed to capture a sound which has been described by the BBC as beautifully understated and extremely inventive. Comparisons have been drawn to Jeff Buckley, Alt-J and Death Cab For Cutie.

Clubsound, Ireland’s premier comedy showband returns to the Riverside.

The band were part of the Ulster heartbeat through the troubles and helped people forget their worries. With comic songs like, Belfast, Belfast, Tonga LOL, Daddy’s Wee Balloons, Nigel Courtney, The Reluctant Exile and The Singing Farmer, becoming sure fire favourites with crowds throughout Ulster’s thriving cabaret scene. It wasn’t just their comedy that won hearts. The members of the band are all gifted musicians, be it playing a Glen Millar Medley, a traditional folk song such as ‘Mary from Dungloe or their tribute to the super B’s – The Beachboys, The Beatles and The Bee Gees. Clubsound were the most successful showband group from Northern Ireland from the 1960s to the 1990s. The current line up features George Jones, David McKnight, Barry Woods, Alan McCartney and Jimmy Black.

The Swedish Railway Orchestra


The Swedish Railway Orchestra is an electronic musical project led by Rob Smith, based in Dublin Ireland.

TSRO is a project that makes instrumental alternative dance music and chill wave. The debut album Northern Lights was released in September 2016 to acclaim. References to Kraftwerk, LCD Soundsystem and Yello were prominent according to the music press. The follow up, a five track EP called Late Night was released late 2016.

As part of the Atlantic Sessions 2017 in association with Bushmills Irish Whiskey we welcome BBC Radio 1’s Phil Taggart.

One of the youngest faces tearing up the night time on BBC Radio 1. His specialist Sunday 10pm show is a frenzied merry-go-round of everything from the dark and edgy wrath of bass music to the ambient sounds of the best up and coming producers… and all the grey in between. It’s fresh and fast paced, very much akin to his DJ sets.

His vibrant and versatile sets are packed full of energy and have made him a hit wherever he travels to play.

The story of the band is the story of 5 guys from Northern Ireland who have been playing music all their lives. Having crossed paths frequently over the years they came together as Blackwater Conspiracy in the Summer of 2015, formed from the ashes of two of the country’s most popular local bands, Million Dollar Reload and Swanee River.
